KNOWING JESUS
GOD KNOWS OUR CONDITION.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one.
GOD KNOWS OUR SIN.
Romans 3:20 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
GOD'S PENALTY FOR SIN.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
GOD'S PROVISION FOR ALL.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9-11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture sayeth, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. Thank you for dying on the cross for me. I now invite you into my life as my personal Savior. Please make me what you want me to be. Amen.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Word of God: We believe in the verbal inspiration of the Scriptures as contained in the 66 canonical books of the Holy Bible. We believe the King James Bible (AV 1611) to be the preserved Word of God, without contradiction or error. (II Timothy 3:16, Psalm 12:6-7)
The Deity of Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is God, not merely a god. (John 1:1,14)
The Virgin Birth: We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23)
The Trinity: We believe that the Trinity is composed of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost (Spirit). Three distinct personalities yet all equally God. (1 John 5:7)
THE Blood Atonement of Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, that He was buried, and that he rose again from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) We believe His blood washes away our sins making atonement for our souls. (Hebrews 9:12)
Depravity of Man: We believe that man is totally depraved and can do nothing good to save himself apart from the atoning work of Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:10; 3:23)
Salvation by Grace: We believe that a man must be “born again”. We believe that salvation is by grace through faith plus nothing. (Romans 11:6; Galatians 2:21; Ephesian 2:5,8-9)
The Charismatic Movement: We reject the charismatic movement and its ecumenical influence with emphasis on “tongues” as evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost (Spirit). (Ephesians 1:13)
Hyper Calvinism: We reject the Calvinistic doctrines that emphasize limited atonement, unconditional election, and the predestination of some to Heaven and some to Hell. (John 3:16; Romans 10:13; Ephesians 2:8-9)
Hyper Dispensationalism: We do not accept the position of hyper dispensationalists. We believe in the Biblical Dispensations. (Matthew 16:18; 2 Timothy 2:15)
Gay rights: We believe that that Bible teaches that Sodomy or the homosexual lifestyle is an abomination, not an “alternate” lifestyle. This includes all that is related to the LGBTQ… movement or association. (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13)
Women as Pastors or Deacons: We reject the ordination or practice of women as pastors or deacons. (1 Timothy 2:12; 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1) This does not include non-ordained leadership roles in ministries for women, children, or music where men are not led.
Worship Music: We hold to the traditional music style of hymns, gospel and southern gospel music for our worship and special music. (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16)
Christian Education: We believe it to be the responsibility of the parents to provide Christian education to their children. “Learn not the ways of the heathen”. (Deuteronomy 4:9; Proverbs 22:6)
Second Coming of Jesus Christ: We believe in the premillennial, Pretribulacional rapture of the saints. Then the period known as the Tribulation will begin and last seven years. The Lord Jesus Christ will return to earth and rule for a thousand years on the throne of David in Jerusalem. After that, there will be the Great White Throne judgement, followed by eternity. (1 Thessalonians 1:10, 4:14-18) We also understand that many Bible believing Christians differ on this view. It is the position of Grace Baptist Temple that we will not refuse membership or fellowship with those who hold to a different position on this matter of the rapture of the Saints.
Hell: We believe that the Bible teaches a literal burning hell where the souls and spirits of the unsaved will be tormented until the Great White Throne judgement where the bodies, souls and spirits of the unsaved will be cast into the Lake of Fire forever. (Luke16:23; Mark 9:43-47)
Heaven: We believe in a literal Heaven where the saved will spend eternity with the Lord. (Matthew 12:50; Acts 7:55-60; 2 Timothy 4:18)
Abortion: We believe that life begins at conception and that abortion is a violation of the Word of God and is a deliberate act of murder. (Psalm 51:15; Psalm 134:14-17; Exodus 21:22-24)
Marriage: We believe that marriage is between one biological man and one biological woman. We believe that any other form of “marriage” or “civil union” is unbiblical. (Genesis 2:23-24; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5)
Gender: We believe that God is perfect and the creator of life and that he created people with the gender they were born with. We do not support or condone any change of gender. (Genesis 1:27, 5:2; Mark 10:6)
Two Church Ordinances: We believe that the two scriptural ordinances of the local church are the Lord’s Supper and Baptism. The Lord’s super is for all members of the body of Christ who have been scripturally saved and baptized. (1 Corinthians 11:20-26) Baptism is an ordinance given to the local church to be administered to one who has been saved. However, it is not a requirement for salvation but is a requirement for local church membership. Baptism is by immersion only, not by any form of sprinkling. (Matthew 28:18-19; Acts 2:41)
Relationship to the Government: We believe that the purpose of this church is to further the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Sovereign. The State has no power to control, manage, impede, or take part in any way of the church and its ministries. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of Grace Baptist Temple. The Church and State are two separate entities with two distinct and separate ordained heads.
